We have prayed for centuries thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth yet this hasnt happened. Will it ever fully happen here on earth?
Yes! God has promised a kingdom on earth and this will indeed happen, in the not too distant future. We cannot judge God by his unfinished work. God is perfect and he desires that this earth will be a perfect kingdom for mankind to live forever. There are many verses in Isaiah which support this thought, such as in chapter 35, 55 and 60, which have not yet been fulfilled, so we must look to the future for their fulfillment. Daniel 2:44 states the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed and it shall stand forever. If the earth abides forever as stated in Ecclesiastes 1:4 and in Isaiah 45:18 God formed the earth and made it; he established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited we may be assured of this because Gods word will not return to him void. (Isa. 55:11)
There is a reason that it has been nearly two thousand years since the time of Christs first advent when he taught his disciples to pray thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth. A part of Gods plan was to find a bride for his Son and so there have been followers of Christ who will become his bride in heaven. A kingdom implies a ruling king and so we understand that Jesus and his faithful followers will be the ones reigning over the earth as it is brought to perfection and returns to paradise conditions. Rev. 1:6, 5:10. The purpose of the thousand years of Christs reign (2 Peter 3:8,9; Rev. 20:6) will be for those resurrected to the earth to learn of Gods ways and choose to do what is right. They will then enjoy the conditions of a perfect earth and live forever, when Gods will truly is done on earth. Then all families of the earth will be blessed, as God promised to Abraham some four thousand years ago.
The promise of Jesus birth was prophesied long ago in Isa 9:6,7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it, with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. This will be the kingdom we have prayed for and looked forward to.
