The Apostle Paul speaks of this present evil world in Galatians 1:4. Does that imply that there will be an end of evil in the future?
Yes! The thought of the end of evil in the world is certainly implied, and assured by other scriptures in Gods Word.
In contrast to the present evil world, we are assured that the end of evil will be realized in the fulfillment of 2 Peter 3:13 which states "Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."
World news informs us daily of the evil that is rampant in the world and to which there seems no end. But also we do learn of a lot of good and know that mankind is capable of living a more righteous, good and holy life when properly motivated. The term "present evil world" does not mean that all is totally evil in the world but that evil predominates. It does not mean that there is no good or righteousness. Mankind has been blinded, misled and deceived by Satan for over six thousand years since the sin in the Garden of Eden. Even into the Christian era, this fact is confirmed by St. Pauls words in 2 Corinthians 4:4 where he says "the god of this world [Satan] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not."
In the beginning of creation "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good" (Gen. 1:31) But at that time also it says that "out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil....But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Gen. 2:9,17) As we know, it was from that first willful act of eating the forbidden fruit that our first parents started a downward spiral resulting in much sickness, trouble, hatred, evil, and death, during every generation since. This time from the Garden of Eden to the flood St. Peter speaks in 2 Peter 3:6 as the world that then was. This helps us understand that the use of the term world refers to a social order or arrangement.
For those who have endeavored to serve God and live pure, honest, good lives, there have been many assurances: Amos 5:14 Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. 1 Pet. 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. For those who have not lived their lives in a godly manner, we are told that when they come back from the grave (John 5:28,29) that Satan is bound for a thousand years. (Rev. 20) This means that they will not be prone to evil as at present and will have help to progress up the way of holiness. (Isa. 35:8) When the thousand years are complete, during which Christ is reigning to put all enemies under his feet (1 Cor. 15:25) then there will be the assurance that there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Rev. 21:4). Then the "world to come" will be a reality of peace, harmony and perfection on earth.
Finally it will be said The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. (Zeph 3:15) Isaiah 35 will be fulfilled in all its glory. It will be paradise on earth!
